- Introduced to tennis by grandmother, Helena, a former Slovak national champion... Father, Igor, was a computer scientist; mother, Marianna, a toxicologist; older brother, Igor, is a trained architect and business consultant... Studied classical piano between ages 6 and 14... Trained at Bollettieri Academy between ages 16 and 18 ... Qualified for top university in Slovakia but deferred it to pursue tennis... Named WTA Newcomer of the Year in 2001 and Most Improved Player in 2002, the year she won her first Indian Wells title... Enjoys modelling and appeared in 2009 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition... Has a charity, the DH Foundation, which supports health and wellbeing causes in Slovakia and around the world, including Cambodian charity House Of The Smile, which treats HIV positive orphans... Loves design and created her own line of DH shirts and a high-fashion calendar to sell on behalf of her charity... In 2019, was named to the Order of Ludovit Stur, First Class, a Slovak national honor... Speaks Slovak, Czech, English and German fluently and works as a tennis commentator and analyst in each of those languages.
